Power Rankings - Week 2

2022-11-22

Interesting 2nd week in the League:

Here are the Power Rankings for Week 2

-Winnipeg and L.A. continue to dominate both the west and the league. Kudos to them.

-Props to Edmonton for hanging in there. They faced some tough competition this week, so we can forgive the Shoot Out loss to Philly. After battleing Winnipeg, LA, and Washington (all top seeded teams) it's only fair that they did not slip too far in the rankings.

-Speaking of Props. Philly had the toughest week of anyone. Facing only top-seeded teams, and squeeking out a shoot-out win over EDM, they too did not slip very far. It was a grinder for sure.

-Washington after beating up all the bottom 8 teams, finally faced some top-notch competition in MTL and EDM, and both games went to a shoot out. Not sure what that means, but at least it's nice to see them in a playoff spot because they definitely deserve that after all these years of being trapped in a very tough division.

-Detroit.. well.. you see the thumbnail. While the competition hasn't been that difficult, you can't argue with 5 wins in a row. They seem to have reclaimed their former glory.

-Hats off to Tampa, who pulled out an impressive victory against WPG. They definitely do not look like an expansion team to start the season.

-Colorado's only two wins have come against Chicago (see below). Brayden Point has not made the difference he was expected to coming off that big trade last year. At least they only traded heir first round pick for him. Maybe Bedard would have made more of an impact.

-Vancouver and Chicago continue on their mission to draft Bedard. The race is still too close to call at this point. I have to give Chicago credit though, for burying their top two goalies in the minors, and icing just an awful team of amateurs. The committment to sucking is inspirational and I respect that.

-As for MTL, the 4-1 loss to VAN was embarssing for MTL, but they were in the middle of a 4 game back-to-back-to-back-to-back, so it's hard to fault them for that.

Oh and what the fuck Ottawa? I wanted a rant on Sunday. Just like a young man coming in for a quickie...  I feel so unsatisfied...
