GOING BACK TO CALI 2023-06-17 The Los Angeles Kings organization are celebrating their 4th Stanley Cup victory in team history by beating the defending Stanley Cup Champions and offensive juggernaut, the Detroit Red Wings who had beaten them in last year's Final. Led by Head Coach Barry Trotz, the team was able to continue on the same path as their successful regular season and go on a 12-2 playoff run. They were led by their top line of Alexander Barkov, Leon Drasaitl and Nikita Kucherov while using their shutdown line of Ryan O'Reilly, Mika Zibanejad & Elias Lindholm to hold off their powerful opponents. They also received some generous contributions from youngsters like Jason Robertson, Jack Hughes and Jake Guentzel. The blue line was led by veterans Victor Hedman, Jaccob Slavin, MacKenzie Weegar and Josh Morrissey. In goal, Ilya Sorokin stood on his head only losing 2 games while posting a 2.64 GAA and a 0.915 Save Percentage. The Kings organization would like to congratulate GM, Alex Alves for once again leading his Red Wings to the Final and for going on an incredible run by beating the 2 top teams in the East during the regular season. We would also like to congratulate the Edmonton Oilers led by Seb Giguere and the Jets led by Fernando Fonseca for their hard fought games in the 2 first rounds of the playoffs. The Kings would also like to thank the other GMs for this incredible expansion season. Already looking forward to the next season and the difficult decisions that will need to be made by all.
