Here are the power rankings for week 11
It was inevitable after the last little while, MTL, CGY were in danger of slipping and sure enough, both took a dive this week. While it seems that MTL has made some moves and is determined to fix this, CGY is treating it like his emo phase and feels like it will pass soon enough and will not be overcorrecting.
OTT slipped, but recovered nicely. Will it be enough to take 2nd place in the East... time will tell.
PIT has had a great run, taking 1st place in the east, and are currently the team to beat in the east. LAK has pulled away in the west, but WPG hasn't given up. I wouldn't count them out to go on a run, as they are right on LAK's heels.
Kudos to DET, who has rebounded back to 5th this week. They are slowly pulling away from WSH for that 4th and final spot in the East. And look at TBL - the expansion franchise that could! Within 2 points of WSH after week 11. I may have to do a post on their odds for that final spot this week.
MIN took everyone by surprise this week, with a 3-1-0 record. That was good enough to move them up to 10th. Too little too late for the playoffs, but never too late to assert dominance over the tankers.
NYR continues to be an enigma. Unpredictable is the word I would use to describe them. Either they will beat a top team, or get slaughtered. You can never predict what the outcome will be. Thank you NYR for keeping things interesting.
EDM is similar. Except that EDM will put up a ton of goals. Losing games 3-8, 4-8. They are 5th overall for Goals For.... 11th overall for Goals Against, so... we all know what they need. Send them your goaltending trades, stat!
CHI is at 29 losses in a row, and counting. The tank is strong with this one.
