Expansion Rules 2022-07-19 Good evening, GMs. Here are the rules for the expansion draft. Keep in mind that the simulator is NOT built for the recent changes the NHL made to the expansion process. Rest assured, they are working on updating all the logistical information in the newer version of the simulator that we should be switching soon either next season (if it is ready) or the one after. That being said, I toyed around with the idea of modifying the expansion draft process and looked at various scenarios. Unfortunately, it is impossible for me to make everyone happy, so I decided to revert to the old style of expansion drafts. Here are the rules: Every team will lose maximum 2 players. Every player aged 24 and younger UNDER CONTRACT will automatically be protected. With all the other roster players (UNDER CONTRACT), you will have the chance to protect 17 players ANY position. However, keep in mind that your team MUST offer at least 2 forwards, 1 defense and 1 goalie. If you do not comply with the minimum requirements, you may expose a player aged 24 and younger. You will therefore have to provide me with your list of PROTECTED players. The deadline to do so is Monday, August 1st 2022. Thank you!
